Hello again Speakeasy Fans!

Happy Holidays to all. It’s so nice to be back at last!
We have special news – a little good cheer, so spread the word:
The brand new Speakeasy Movie Theatre is ready to re-open – huzzah!!!

This will be a “soft” opening just for the cinema – full bells and whistles “Grand” opening for the whole beautiful building will be January 10. More details on that event as we get nearer the date.
But for now:

Opening this Friday, December 19:

“NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 3”
rated PG / rt 94 minutes
Daily @ 5:30 & 8:00
Matinees Sat/Sun
& Christmas Day (Thursday)
@ 3:00pm

Now to be fair, it’s not quite finished, we are still a work in progress but we felt that it would be very special to be able to share the holidays with you all! So we promise there will be popcorn and soda and a cup or two of good cheer in the way of wine or beer so please tell your friends and come down to help us unwrap this fabulous new gift!

“Night At The Museum” will play for 2 weeks. This is Robin Williams’ last film. Bittersweet for those of us who grew up loving his outrageous talent. He will be sorely missed but he leaves behind the gift of laughter in our hearts – and hopefully in our theater seats too 😉 You’ll find me in the back raising a cup, for sure as the poet Robbie Burns has written:
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup!
and surely I’ll buy mine!
And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

OK, Cheer up! New stuff for the New Year. Starting in January we are bringing a great line-up of the year’s best movies as we run right up to the Oscars – and beyond! Here are some of the contenders:

“WILD”
“BOYHOOD”
“WHIPLASH”
“THE IMITATION GAME”
“DEUX JOURS, UNE NUIT”
“BIRDMAN”
“MR. TURNER”
“DEAR WHITE PEOPLE”
“CITIZEN FOUR”

and many, many more…. Dates of course will be announced as we get them (at the last minute). As always please check our website for more up to the date info www.speakeasymovies.com

Thanks everyone for sharing your great excitement about having our little local cinema back. Your donations, your enthusiasm your hard work and your dedication have made it come true. Lots and lots of folks have been working really hard behind the scenes to make this happen. Especially since I have been away around the world this last year and a half! We owe them all a great big debt of gratitude, it’s really touching that we have such a special place in your hearts.

See you at the movies!
